My Blue and White Hand Quilted Quilt - The Quilt Ladies from The Quilt Ladies Book Collection

I've learned through the years that the way to a Quilter's heart is through hand quilting.

This is my, "I can talk the talk AND quilt the quilt," quilt.

I've seen grown woman, sigh, giggle and try to hold their fingers back from touching this quilt. www.bethanndoing.com

It started out as a baby quilt, but it has been put to work as my opening when I speak. I can HAND quilt the quilt ! !

The Reflection Quilt from Patchwork Sampler Blog

My big news!

Hello friends. Today is the day I have been waiting for. The pattern for The Reflection Quilt is finally here! Right now it is only available as a digital download through my Etsy shop here. You know me, though, always looking for the easiest way to piece a quilt. It took me three tries on this one, but I think I finally figured it out! It really is easy to piece and it looks great whether you make it scrappy with fat quarters or just two fabrics like I did with this ombre version. The pattern is ...

Merry Christmas from Pinkadot Quilts

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! It tool forever to get this picture and still Pippy turned her head exactly 2 seconds before it went off! She is always holding her little brother's hand!

It was interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on how I should set this. I need to make a decision because if I go on point I have to make triangle blocks to fill in around the edges.
I will do a tutorial after the holidays on how I am appliqueing these together. You will not believe how easy it is!

Carol from Texas, your ...

Trans-Tasman Bubbles from Wendy's Quilts and More

Here's my latest finish, Trans-Tasman Bubbles.

This quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted by me.  The pattern is by Willyne Hammerstein from her book Millefiori Quilts 4.  In the book it's called "Dancing Cheek to Cheek", but I called my quilt trans-Tasman Bubbles, because the circles keep disappearing and re-emerging as you look at it.

The trans-Tasman bubble is an agreement between the New Zealand and Australian governments that lets citizens of those countries travel between the two countries without having to stay 14 days in managed isolation/hotel quarantine on arrival.

However, as soon as ...

Blue and White Quilt Top from Northern Deb Quilts

Check off another quilt top!
Im finally done with this blue and white quilt top after...oh...maybe 10 years? It's going onto a hanger with the rest of my unquilted tops, mainly because I haven't decided how to quilt it (hand, domestic or longarmer) and I haven't found the batting or backing. It's not a rush...I have PLENTY more UFOs to work on.

This one started YEARS ago as a class sample. I was teaching from a book with lots of jelly roll quilts. I had a finished sampler quilt to show the class ...

Boy, how things have changed.. from Northern Deb Quilts

I haven't posted in a while...I just can believe how the world has changed in a bit over a month. We left Florida on schedule and got back home in time to stock up on groceries and necessities.

First it was the social distancing, then the "stay home order". Part of our family is in southeast Michigan where the virus is the worst. I think they're staying home and staying safe. Up here in the Traverse City area, it's not bad yet...maybe 9 or so cases.

When I finally sat down to sew, I started ...

Blue and white star quilt from Northern Deb Quilts

I had a little sewing time this afternoon and was able to add 3 blocks to my #blueandwhitequilt

I changed the design just a bit. The outermost border was plain. I decided to add a bunch half square trianges (hst) and a few more of the stars going around the center. I really HOPE I have enough fabric to do all of this. It's going to be close.

So besides sewing this weekend, we met a new family member. It's amazing what can be discovered through #Ancestry.
And now I'm relaxing a little before the big game ...

Next in line... from Northern Deb Quilts

I'm working on an old UFO...one that I really love. Years ago I taught a class and sewed up a class sample. I made a few extra blocks as I taught how the blocks went together. I usually use solids to test blocks then when I get enough, I make a solid scrappy sampler quilt. But these were all in blue and white so I saved them for a two color quilt.
This block below is what I stitched up today after taking apart a block I didnt like.
I think this was "cups and saucers" block....usually ...

Mesmerizing Two Color Quilts from Quilted Joy

Every year the Kentucky State Fair chooses to highlight a particular category of quilt. The style they choose is then its own category for the fair. In 2019 the category was two color quilts. There is something mesmerizing about many of these two color quilts. They are beautiful in their simplicity and intriguing in their complexity. Whatever they are, they are definitely a style worth trying sometime!

Two Color Quilts at the Fair

The Organized Quilter from Repro Quilt Lover

Let me begin by saying this is an aspirational post. I am not an organized quilter or an organized anything, really. But, I need an organized system to accomplish what makes me happy; maybe you can relate.

I am going to assume if you are reading this blog you like to quilt. And, therefore, are probably a creative person — a “creative type.” Generally, we creative types are free spirits, which doesn’t translate well into focus, planning and organization. But, if I give in to the free spirit and let it run my days, those days are ruled by a ...

1857 Album Quilt Update from Quilting Artist

I've been having a lot of fun working on these blocks from the 1857 Album Quilt by Sentimental Stitches.
Perfect for some stitching and a cup of tea.
Here are the first six I have appliqued.  They are 10" blocks and I am doing needleturn applique - my favorite method!
from the Sentimental Stitches web site.
I really like working in one color and I think these blocks look great in blue and white. The original quilt, which you can see here, is red, green and cheddar.
Here is my fabric pull from my stash for these blocks.  As I ...
